Wendy & Martina attended a week long intensive course for the Alpine Horn in the Bernese Oberland near Gstaad. An outdoor excursion to the top of Mt. Wispile with the entire school of 23 Alpine Horns and a final day concert in the town centre of Gstaad were particular highlights. The Alphorn is a Swiss National Instrument and originally used by cow-herds tending their herds in the mountains during summer months. It was usually sounded at sunset to let distant family know they were alright and also tunes were created to play to other distant cow-herds to combat loneliness. Many of these tunes have become traditional Swiss folk music. Being over 3 metres long these mountain horns create interest wherever they appear together with their haunting sounds. Wendy, Martina and Peta are the Adelaide Alpine Horns who entertain widely and contact details are on this link : www.sacomment.com/alphorns.htm Wendy. 84499195 . . . .
